Two challenges in one
I'm tackling two challenges in one go with this card. Jury is still out for me whether or not I succeeded in taking other concepts and making them mine. I was a bit stuck using the colours for the first challenge. I used Fine Linen but it just didn't speak to me. Now mind you, it's paper, so of course it doesn't talk. It's the whole lack of lips thing I think.
So I thought, Carolyne, don't be such an oldest child stickler for the rules and toss that Fine Linen out the window. But the window was closed and I can't throw out paper larger than one inch square, so I just put Fine Linen back in my paper file, pulled out my Vintage Cream and went with it. Then there was the whole adventure with Hawaiian Shores. I cut butterflies, flowers, leaves out of that colour, and again, couldn't get it to come together.
Instead I pulled out a button, shut my mind off to the whole Nichole Heady rule of three (though I did follow that one with the other colours so I felt justified in breaking it for HS) and put one measly HS button on the tag. Anyhow, here it is. Color Challenge Mojo Monday.

Very pretty, love the all the goodies layered up on the tag and the layered butterflies! As far as the rule of 3, I still see it in place because of the sentiment. The sentiment, butterflies and tag make a very nice visual triangle. Wonderful card!
Thanks Leah. I'm still learning but I figure may as well put what I do out there and see what kind of feedback I get.
Ok, now that I have stopped laughing at your post, I can say that your card is lovely. You did a great job with both challenges. I also had a hard time with 3 instances of 5 colors--but that is why Nicole is da bomb, and we are just trying to learn from her, right?
You are right, Joyce. I feel inadequate in the presence of Nichole, but hey, she's the one with the stamp company and I'm just the one helping her keep her stamp company going. And being inspired.
This turned out just beautifully, Carolyne! I think the rule of 3 is a great guideline, but definitely not something to get hung up on as a hard-and-fast rule. Your card is perfect!
Very pretty, Carolyne! I think this was my favourite colour combo from the ones Nichole posted.... I used it on my blog post today, too! I love how you added the Life images to your tag!
Beautiful card, Carolyne! Love your butterfly and the colors you used! I'm your new follower!
Beautiful card! You made me laugh about the window. I love the color combo you chose for this one Carolyne!
I just placed quality Linen returned in my paper record, pulled out my vintage Cream and went with it. Then there has been the complete adventure with Hawaiian shorelines. I succeeded in taking other ideas and Animated Video Company making them mine. i was a chunk caught using the colors for the primary project. I used first-rate Linen but it just failed to talk to me.
